Okay, you know something?

[A certain lazy mage is grumpily sitting up in a tent right now, shivering a little and positively drenched. There's a Clefairy leaning up against his side, wrapped in a towel. The rain batters hard against the outside of the tent, though perhaps not as hard as it could - trees do tend to give a little bit of extra shelter against the wind and rain. Not much, mind, but a little.]

There are Pokémon that can control the weather, right? I'm just thinking, maybe a bunch of them caused this storm because they got so pissed off at all the crap in the cities. It's possible, right? I mean, well, I guess it could just be a coincidence, too, but...

...Haa, well, either way, it's just my luck that we'd get a bothersome storm every time I go through this forest, isn't it. This really sucks.

These creatures can go far enough as to control the weather?

Which species can do that?

Ah... anything that can learn Rain Dance, Sunny Day, or Hail, I'm pretty sure. Though, usually it only affects a small area, as far as I know, so it'd have to be either a Pokémon that's really powerful or a bunch of them working together, in order to make a storm this big...

Can you think of examples of any Pokemon powerful enough to cause effects like this on its own?

None that I've ever met, myself. There are a few legends I read back in Ecruteak that talked about a few that might be able to, but...

In my experience, such legends tend to be at least based in fact. What, exactly, did you read about?

Oh, my experience too, believe me.

Let's see... There were once two towers in Ecruteak, but one of them burned down in a fire, and three Pokémon were trapped in it and died. A rainbow-hued Pokémon then descended from the sky and gave them new life, of water, lightning, and fire. But the people were afraid of such power, and the reborn Pokémon knew they could not contain theirs, so the rainbow-hued Pokémon flew away, and the three others ran off into the grassland.

Or something like that, anyway.

An interesting legend, if vague. Regifting life is not an easy task, so one wonders why these three Pokemon were so important as to attract the attention of the rainbow one.

No matter. If the legend is true, those three could easily be behind this. Certainly water and lightning are our primary opponents at the moment, and as for fire... Well, it's widely known flame dwells beneath the earth. That one could explain the tremors I've felt.

It'd make sense. And if they're doing this because of all the crap in the cities...

Haa... see, this is why you don't piss off godly things with powers beyond your comprehension! It never ends well.

There are rewards that can justify the risk, but I doubt this was one of those cases.

[Says the guy who deliberately got close to a godly evil titan so he could gain power from him and betray him and his army of demons.]

Well see, generally if you're going after rewards like that, you hopefully know what you're getting into.

Who's to say those responsible for this didn't? Perhaps they merely overestimated their own abilities.

I guess that's possible. That kind of thing would suck the most, though, if whoever it is has that big of an ego.

If one has a large ego without the strength, cunning, and intelligence to back it up, they deserve what they get.

They don't have to drag the rest of us into it too, though.

No, they do not have to.

But they usually do, regardless.

It's such a pain.
