Ryner usually doesn't exactly catch Pokémon so much as they decide to travel along with him. He doesn't much like the idea of forcing little animals to accompany him regardless of their feelings, so if they decide to come with him, that's fine, there's room for more, but he always makes it clear that they can leave whenever they want to. (Rose then Pounds him, every time, but.) Even the Pokémon he hatches from eggs, he makes it clear that they can leave whenever.

Ryner doesn't much like the rule about how you can only have six in your party at once - wouldn't it be lonely in the PC? - but still has to comply, so. When he's in town, basically they draw straws and decide who goes in the PC on a day to day basis. When he's traveling... well, then he has to leave folks in there longer.

(Note that Rose and Jehra (and as of the end of October 2013, Glen) have expressed their explicit desire not to leave Ryner's side at all. So they don't go in the PC. The others, to Ryner's lack of understanding why, seem perfectly okay with it. Especially Rey... though, well, she's got her issues.)

As for training... well, Ryner doesn't specifically train them, but for the most part, they all want to get stronger anyway. At first they would sneak out when he was asleep and go train on their own, but after Rose got sick, Ryner decided to take them out to make sure they don't get hurt, anyway. Which actually works out better, because he never lets them push themselves so far past their limits that they'll get badly hurt, and he gives them tips when he notices things they can improve on. He's recently taken to sparring with all of them on occasion, not just one or two, which has the unintended (but beneficial) side-effect that he's getting in exercise and training too.

On average, most get 1-2 levels per week, aside from Aran and Rey, who... well, they have their own issues to sort through.

Party

Rose Clefairy, LV☆100 Bold Nature Magic Guard ♀	Ryner met Rose in New Bark Town as a Cleffa - she was his starter. She's only rarely gone back inside her pokéball since, preferring to sit on Ryner's shoulder. Rose is a rather strong-willed Clefairy. She's made it her goal in life to be strong enough to protect her dear partner... whether Ryner wants that protection or not. She absolutely hates it whenever he implies that he thinks he's not worth it, or when he's feeling at all glum about stupid things that she doesn't get, or when he does anything she doesn't like in general, and she intends to get her point across to him, even if she has to Pound it into him. Quite literally. Always with the cutest expression of pure innocence, but you just -know- she knows exactly what she's doing. She's also a hard worker, though, always training extra hard to get stronger and roping the others into sparring with her - she wants to impress her dear partner and make him smile. After all, when he's proud of her, he's not sad. (Well, that and she likes praise. A lot.) Perhaps unsurprisingly, her favorite food is dango. As of the one-year anniversary of the day she and Ryner met, Rose can always be seen wearing a pink rose hair decoration on her ear. Gail Noctowl, LV☆100 Docile Nature Keen Eye ♂	After awakening from an afternoon nap, Ryner found a Hoothoot that had decided to fall asleep in his cloak because it looked comfortable. When he decided to keep going, the little owl decided to follow him. He was named Gail by Tatl. A bit of a logical thinker, Gail is always eager to learn and always eager to help out with whatever anyone needs, whether it be putting a rampaging Pokémon to sleep with Hypnosis so no one gets hurt, delivering a package halfway across the region to a stranger, or being a sparring partner when one of the others is restless. He doesn't really like being cooped up inside much, preferring to be able to get out and spread his wings, though he's hesitant to leave Ryner for too long because he likes his trainer. On the other hand, he's a bit sensitive to the cold, which is part of why he likes wearing a scarf so much. Especially good friends with Elfy, even if the Ditto gets on his nerves a little sometimes. He refuses to make eggs with Elfy, though, for an unknown reason. Elfy Ditto, LV☆100 Jolly Nature Limber	While making an (eventually futile) attempt to start traveling to Azalea town, Ryner encountered a Ditto who immediately fell in love with his outfit, transformed into his shape, and started dancing. When he eventually decided that the best thing to do would be to ignore it and leave, the Ditto decided to follow him. With an eternally care-free and laid-back attitude toward life, Elfy is always cheerfully bouncing to a rhythm that only he can hear - it's never the same as the background music, somehow. He loves dancing, even if as a pinkish-purple blob he's not the best at it. He also seems to have a bit of an obsession with cloth. When the group is just training together and nothing serious is going on, he likes to transform into Ryner and spar with him, much to the original's discomfort. *Ryner uses male pronouns to describe Elfy simply because he thinks it would be rude to use 'it'. ::Transform::
Pino Granbull, LV☆100 Quirky Nature Quick Feet ♀	Ryner received a Snubbull as a Christmas gift from Mammon. He's still not quite sure what to make of this fact, but he'll take care of her anyway. Pino is really sweet, and looks up to Rose as a big sister figure, even if she doesn't understand most of what she does. She's very playful, and enjoys racing the others, especially Ren - she usually loses, because Granbulls aren't the fastest ever, but that doesn't stop her from trying her best anyway. Jehra Absol, LV☆100 Gentle Nature ~~Super Luck~~ Justified ♂	This Absol hatched from the mystery egg that Ryner received for Christmas. Some (mostly the more cynical who know about Ryner's eyes) might expect that Jehra sticks with Ryner to warn others of his status as a walking disaster. This couldn't be further from the truth, however - Jehra simply bonded very quickly with Ryner, and sticks close so that he can warn his papa of any danger. Much as he keeps up a rather stoic attitude much of the time and rarely shows his emotions too obviously (even if he does have a silly streak when he wants to), Jehra is a bit of a worry-wort deep down, always concerned about anything that could possibly cause problems. (Though, he's more likely to growl at a potential threat from behind Ryner's legs than to actually attack it.) He can always be found either right by Ryner's side or, if he doesn't feel like going out that day, hanging out in the room they're staying in at the inn. When they're walking together, Jehra always sticks right by his papa's heel, though he always provides enough room that neither of them trips over the other; when they're resting, he curls up right at Ryner's feet, or at the foot of his bed, whatever he feels like at the time. Ren Typhlosion, LV☆100 Docile Nature Blaze ♂	Ryner purchased this Cyndaquil's egg because Rose decided, in her infinite wisdom, that the best way to make Ryner less lonesome and homesick would be to surround him with more partners. (Also she was cold.) Because he knew more or less what was going to come from the egg, Ryner named him Ren, short for "Kurenai", a Roland fire spell. Ren is a very curious fire beast with sparkling eyes that just take in everything about the world - he wants to learn everything he can. He's energetic and loves to explore, though he also sleeps a lot out of necessity because he thinks he has more energy than he really does and therefore pushes himself a little hard and ends up tiring himself out easily. Early in his life, he was incredibly sensitive to the touch and would flare up whenever someone petted him unexpectedly, even if they were being gentle - Ryner still has a scar on his right hand from when he got burned, even if it's only barely noticeable if you know where to look. With evolution, Ren's gotten better and no longer flares up at the slightest touch, but he's still liable to do it if you catch him too off guard. Aran Paras, LV☆100 Lonely Nature Dry Skin ♂ Equipped: Everstone	While traveling through the Ilex Forest, there was a heavy rainstorm, during which Ryner let a Paras stay with the rest of his group under their makeshift shelter to keep out of the rain. In gratitude, and because he liked Ryner, the Paras helped them to find their way out of the forest, and then decided to follow along for the ride. Aran is the friendliest mushroom bug you will ever meet. Gets along well with everyone, hates fighting at all. He loves exploring, and has an excellent sense of direction, somehow pretty good at navigating complicated caverns he's never seen before to their exits within a reasonable amount of time without getting lost. Hence, he often comes along when the group is traveling. Oddly, despite his Dry Skin ability, he's not a fan of really heavy rain. Very adamantly DOES NOT WANT TO EVOLVE but fears that he won't be able to fight it. The everstone that Ryner ordered from Goldenrod is helping. His mushrooms, on the other hand, appear to have a mind of their own. Though Aran would prefer to freeze up and do nothing, his mushrooms tend to spit out spores of various types whenever they sense that their host is in any sort of danger... or, more recently, whenever they feel like it, really. They would like Aran to be more aggressive. Heck, they'd rather if Aran gave in to their will completely. But they will bide their time until his evolution... Aran is currently working with Sion to try to learn how to dominate his mushrooms, instead of the other way around. Jiji Umbreon, LV☆100 Hardy Nature Synchronize ♂	Fuji randomly decided to send Ryner an Eevee egg. To this day, Ryner's still not completely sure why. Jiji loves to fight. Anything and everything. He loves to chase things that are smaller than him - doing so gives him what he thinks of as the thrill of the hunt. He loves to fight things that are stronger than him - never let it be said that he would ever back away from the excitement of a challenge. Yes, he gets hurt a lot, which drives Ryner nuts, but he doesn't care, because he finds it fun. When there isn't anything around to fight or chase, however, he will demand the attention of anyone and everyone in the vicinity - he's a little bit vain, and just loves being petted. Rey Yanma, LV 21 Impish Nature Speed Boost ♀	One of the bug Pokémon that Tarantulas specifically bred, tortured, and sent to berserk upon the land of Johto, when this Yanma attacked, Ryner saw a similar look in her eyes to the one he's experienced far too often as an Alpha Stigma bearer, and without thinking he threw a Pokéball and caught her, hoping to help her get back on her feet and have a normal life when everything was over. Poor Rey. Poor, poor Rey. This poor Yanma has been through so much. Deep down, she's a really kind dragonfly. Would make a great Team Mom-type. Would fight to the bitter end to protect those she cares about, no matter her own fate. Would have a great sense of humor, too. Unfortunately, Tarantulas got to her as a baby, hurt her, tortured her, and did all sorts of nasty things to her. Therefore, to say that she doesn't trust humans is an understatement. Heck, she doesn't trust other Pokémon! She freaks out when she hears loud noises. She's scared of open spaces, because someone could conceivably sneak up on her and hurt her again. Therefore, she hides in small places whenever she can - under the bed, in a cardboard box, behind books on a shelf, stuff like that. She actually prefers to be in her ball, though Ryner makes sure she gets out of it at least sometimes for (what he hopes is) her own good. Despite everything, she is starting - starting - to barely warm up to Ryner, because he's been going slowly and trying to reach out to her and make her feel safe. This will take time, though. Kaile Wigglytuff, LV☆100 Impish Nature Cute Charm ♂	This Igglybuff hatched from the mystery egg Ryner received for Easter. No one is ever quite sure exactly what Kaile is thinking. His expression is always a small, peaceful smile, one that doesn't betray any particular emotion. Always. It never changes, ever. Rarely, one might be able to catch a shred of his true feelings in his eyes, but you have to be looking. He's not exactly shy, but he is fairly quiet. Stealthy, too - he's been known to pop up without warning in a spot where you swear he was nowhere near two seconds ago. He also takes a little bit after his Delibird lineage (he's got one as an ancestor somewhere) and likes to give gifts to people. It's not his fault if they explode most the time. Has become good friends with Jiji, to the point where they're practically inseparable. Lori Xatu, LV☆100 Bashful Nature Early Bird ♀	While Ryner was comatose for his canon update, Gail took a couple day trip to spread his wings. On said trip, he met a pretty female flying type in the wild somewhere, they got to know each other a bit, they had a... thing together, and Gail brought back one of their kids to raise. This Natu is Gail's daughter. Lori is a bit of a daydreamer. She can often be seen standing on a tree branch or something else kind of high up, staring at the clouds. When anyone calls her out on this tendency, however, she easily gets a little embarrassed about it, and she's a little bit shy around strangers. She enjoys accompanying Gail on his trips. Always has, even when she hadn't evolved yet and her wings weren't fully grown - it just involved sitting in his parcel bag. Glen Joltik, LV☆100 Careful Nature Unnerve ♂	This Joltik hatched from the mystery egg Ryner received for Valentine's Day. Glen is a pretty cheerful little spider. He's kind of zen with the world most of the time, preferring to spend his waking minutes spinning artistic webs in the corner rather than fret over anything. They're very artistic webs, too - every strand is always set carefully to make it as pretty as it can be, in his opinion. When he's content with his current web's layout for the time being, he likes to pop up cheerfully to say hi to anyone who comes in the room. And he tries so hard to be cute, too - he wants to be cute and make people happy! Of course, he can't really help that he's a little on the creepy side about it, and surprisingly, Rose is especially a little uncomfortable around him, much as she doesn't like making it that obvious. Ryner doesn't think he's creepy at all, though - Glen's just a little spider. Nothing to be afraid of. [and then the irony detector had a fit...] He has no intention nor desire to evolve at the moment, preferring to stay tiny. And as he doesn't have other problems fighting against him on that, he can regulate this pretty well by himself. (Aran is rather jealous of this, needless to say.) Ryner "Ry" Gyarados, LV☆100 Relaxed Nature Intimidate ♂	This Gyarados is one of the Pokémon Ryner inherited from Ferris Eris when she left Johto. He's known him since he was a Magikarp, though. Ryner the Gyarados, or "Ry" as Ryner the mage calls him for the sake of less confusion, is just as lazy as his namesake. He dislikes fighting, doesn't fight back when someone's beating him up, and would much rather just lay there half-asleep than do anything. In short, he's kind of a failure when it comes to being a typical Gyarados, but that's okay. Dango Pink Igglybuff, LV☆100 Jolly Nature Cute Charm ♀	Though she originally hatched from an egg that Ryner had given to Ferris in late December (Kaile's daughter), this Igglybuff is one of the Pokémon Ryner inherited from Ferris Eris when she left Johto. Dango Pink (often shortened just to Pink) is a very cheerful little Igglybuff. She's also used to being pampered, considering how much Ferris spoiled her. Ellie Sawsbuck, LV☆100 Adamant Nature Sap Sipper ♀	This Deerling decided that Ryner was going to be her friend the instant she first laid eyes on him. She first leapt in front of him to get him to catch her, but when that didn't work, she started bringing him gifts. First a wildflower or two, then some berries, then a large flowering branch, until he finally got the point and asked if she wanted to come along. Ellie wants to be friends with EVERYONE IN THE ENTIRE WORLD. And if she wants something, she will get her way, make no mistake. She will do whatever it takes to get her way, though she isn't particularly cunning or anything, just diabetes-sweet and innocent enough to get her point across. Her hobbies include frolicking with and singing to the local wildlife, even though she doesn't actually know the move Sing. Bradelle Lampent, LV☆100 Sassy Nature Flame Body ♀	Ryner inherited this Lampent from Maes Hughes when he disappeared from Johto. Bradelle is less of a troll than your typical ghost, though this is possibly due to being a sentient lantern instead of a ball of gas or something of that nature. However, that doesn't mean she doesn't enjoy playing the occasional prank, like "accidentally" almost setting someone on fire, or pretending to be an ordinary lamp and then suddenly wiggling around after someone's been holding her unaware for a few minutes. She misses her original trainer a lot, but has settled in all right, at least. Also, she's surprisingly motherly. Need an egg kept warm? Lafra Musharna, LV☆100 Serious Nature Forewarn ♂	During a swarm of psychic types, Rose enlisted the help of this Munna in order to enter her dear partner's dreams and find out what he had been hiding from her. The Munna, his heart warmed by how the shared dream ended, decided to tag along. Just like his namesake, Lafra is very gentle and caring. Though he's a little shy at first when he first meets someone, once he gets to know them, he's very friendly. (And of course, the easiest way for him to get to know someone is through their dreams. He doesn't usually deliberately put people to sleep, though - that was one time, and it was to help Rose!) Arius Staryu, LV☆100 Hasty Nature Illuminate	While relaxing on the beach, Ry the Gyarados somehow came afoul of this Staryu, which decided to make it its goal in life to harass the poor water dragon. Ryner (with some "help" from Rose) managed to stop it, but the Staryu decided to catch itself in one of Ryner's pokéballs so as to harass Ry more in the future. No one's quite sure what kind of thorn Arius has in his side, and hell if he's telling anyone. (Though, there's always the hope that he might calm down if he ever evolves.) All that can be said for sure is that he has terrible anger management issues. Even if you manage to catch him in a relatively calm mood, and he's grumpy and stand-offish even during those, the slightest of things can send him into a rage, blasting everything in sight with water attacks or Swift. Jiru Espeon, LV☆100 Hasty Nature Synchronize ♀	During yet another one of Ryner's semi-annual egg sales, Jiji decided that he wanted to give Jina, Sion's Glaceon and Jiji's son, a sibling to play with. So he hid one of his eggs so that Ryner wouldn't find it until it was too late to sell it. This Eevee is Jiji's daughter. With a highly curious nature and a cheerful disposition, Jiru wants to poke her nose into everything and everything, even if it's something she really shouldn't get into. When she wants something, she has a tendency to act on impulse and rush into it, rather than thinking through the best way to do it. Marian Yamask, LV☆100 Naive Nature Mummy ♀	Marian Lied was a girl from Azalea Town who went off to study at the Striaton City cooking school in Unova. She met an early, tragic death, however, when on her way home for vacation, she accidentally came afoul of a swarm of Beedrill, tripped while running away, and fell down Slowpoke Well. She was reborn as a Yamask, and several years later, during a Halloween ghostly swarm, her mask found its way onto Ryner's face for a couple of days. (He's not talking about it.) She decided, after that was all settled, to travel with him from there on out (much to his chagrin), partially in order to properly apologize, partially out of a desire to see the world, and partially because she had developed a bit of a crush on Sion. Marian is a bit of an airhead sometimes. She's a little clumsy, except in the kitchen - even in undeath, she's a fantastic cook. She's not the most observant about her surroundings. She is very much a Team Mom-type, tending to everyone, both the younger ones and the older ones. Even Ryner himself isn't safe from her care. Senna Volcarona, LV☆100 Docile Nature Flame Body ♀	During the first Fourth Wall event that everyone was allowed to remember part of, Ryner ended up buried under a pile of Larvesta that pretty much fell from the sky. This one just happened to decide to stick around, since she had nothing better to do. Her name is derived from that of some weird guy Ryner met during the Fourth Wall who seemed to know him but was no one he'd ever met before. ~~(Ah, the joys of slightly crossing over with Camp...)~~ Senna is very easy-going, and though she's not the most out-going, she's certainly friendly enough. She keeps a rather chilled-out attitude toward the world most of the time, and is quick to forgive for even large grievances, not that there's much that gets on her nerves. Also, she's quite warm and fluffy and doesn't mind being used as a pillow, though her large size now that she's evolved makes that somewhat more difficult these days. The one odd thing about her is her sense of humor, in that she likes climbing up the wall and sticking to it for hours on end before suddenly flopping down to the floor when you least expect it, for the sole purpose of seeing who jumps. Yohki Togekiss, LV☆100 Brave Nature Serene Grace ♂	This (shiny) Togepi hatched from the mystery egg that Ryner received for Christmas. Yohki rarely lets anything faze him. If something knocks him down, he just gets up cheerfully and tries again, sometimes without even bothering to dust himself off first. He can be fairly quick to jump into hasty decisions, but he always stops to at least think a little bit about the consequences, anyway, even if it's just to consider the most likely outcome and make sure it's not going to definitely lead to utter disaster. He's brave and impulsive, but he's not stupid. Before his evolution, he would occasionally take practice jumps off high places in anticipation - after making sure he's going to land someplace soft, of course. Now that he can fly, of course, he's quite content to just fly everywhere. Tei Mienshao, LV☆100 Sassy Nature Inner Focus ♂	Ryner purchased this Mienfoo egg at BreederCon because Rose, in her infinite wisdom, decided that she wanted him to. He's going with the assumption that she wanted a fighting type on the team so she could have a challenge when it grew up. Highly self-disciplined and self-motivated, Tei is one of the most serious members of the menagerie when it comes to training... and he knows it. And he makes sure everyone else knows it too. When he completes his exercises (which he made up himself), he makes sure everyone else knows just how well his training went that day, and makes no secret how much he prides himself on being more disciplined than everyone else, which makes him come off (rightfully) as a bit of a jerk. Fyn Gyarados, LV☆100 Serious Nature Swift Swim ♀	Because he has a fondness for Magikarp (because they are pacifist fish... with issues...), and because they needed homes, and because he decided Ry could use a water-type companion that wouldn't try to kill him upon laying eyes on him, and because they were free, Ryner decided to take in one of the free Magikarp eggs offered at BreederCon. As a Magikarp, Fyn was a little on the small side for the species, but otherwise rather typical. As a Gyarados, she's still a little small, and... typical of the species in other ways. Prone to being overwhelmed by large crowds, especially hostile swarms, she has the unfortunate tendency to channel anxiety into anger, though Ryner and Ry are helping her with that. In the end, though, when she isn't completely overwhelmed, she's pretty calm and gentle, really. This Cottonee saw him and decided that it would be fun to sneak under his head while he was asleep and pretend to be a pillow, presuming that Ryner would freak out upon wakening. When he didn't, she decided to join him and find out what would freak him out. Fluffy enjoys playing harmless pranks and watching people freak out, getting somewhat disappointed when they don't. She's pretty innocent, though, and really more amazed at the sheer scope of the world than anything. ...Also she has strange taste in decoration and tends to think of the weirdest uses for little things, and is a bit of a magpie-type in that she collects little trinkets in her fluff, but. He meant to just revive it, apologize, and let it go, but it decided to stay anyway. Shae is a rather firm yet cynical believer in luck, and is of the opinion that whatever she does has absolutely no effect on what will happen in her life. Whatever happens happens, there's no doing anything about it. Sometimes, things are good. Sometimes, things are bad. (Sometimes, you get a Yanma poking your shell for no reason. ...Though, admittedly she does have some fondness for Rey.) In any case, she's confused by suddenly being revived in the modern era, but is just going with the flow of where her luck takes her. Koris Carbink, LV☆100 Calm Nature Clear Body	While Ryner and Sion were on a trip to Pewter to visit the museum, Rose tripped over this Carbink by accident, but it was patched up quickly. Not having seen one of this species before, though, and realizing that her dear partner doesn't have a lot of rock types, Rose invited the Carbink along (without asking Ryner first), and it obliged. Koris likes sitting on top of warm things, and in the middle of fires. No one is quite sure why. But when the stove is on, or a fire is going in the fireplace, you have to keep watch, or suddenly there will be a Carbink just happily sitting in the middle of it. And of course, the fox decided to tag along, because surely there would be more where that came from. Mur is a bit of a troublemaker. It's not like he means to, most of the time. It's just that he loves chewing sticks, and somehow he sees anything straight and longer than it is wide as a stick, and so he's been known to attack things like tall lamps, broom handles, pencils that are in use, even legs (though these days he's learned not to chew on legs). add moves later

Lucia knows she's beautiful, and she flaunts her sparkles everywhere. Not purely out of vanity (though she is arguably rather vain), but because such a gift should be shared with the world. Such beauty shouldn't hide away, that would be a waste. She doesn't care so much about praise for herself, as it makes her happy when others see such a beautiful thing as her and are inspired. add moves later
