All right, what is it this time?
[Apparently, Rose wants to go somewhere in particular today. And Ryner, deciding that it would be less bothersome to at least know what he was objecting to doing before saying no, is following her, to find out what it is.
They walk through the streets of Violet, until Rose suddenly stops, twirls around, and with a happy "Clef clef!", points...
...toward Violet City Gym.
...Well. He should have seen this one coming a while ago. Honestly, it's a surprise she hasn't wanted to come here sooner, knowing her.]
...You want to challenge the Gym?
["Clef!"]
Haa... Look, I know you've wanted to get stronger, but it's not like you have to prove it by doing something bothersome like--
["Clefairy fair--"]
--A-Ah, well, I guess if you really, really want to...
["Fairy!" And she stops her Thunderbolt mid-cast, pleased and excited. Ryner sighs - well, if we do it now maybe she'll be satisfied and won't want to do more of them - and kneels down to get closer to her level.]
If we're going to do this, though... You have to promise me not to use anything other than Pound, okay?
["Fair?" Confused!Clefairy wants to know why.]
It's like... I'm pretty sure Violet City's gym is the first one you're supposed to challenge, right? So it's probably pretty hard when you're new, but, well, we've been together for about a year now, so it probably won't prove very difficult at all, for you.
And, er, things like Thunderbolt or Water Pulse... They'd be overkill, in this situation, and it's not like this is life or death, you know? It'd just be a friendly match, so... If you go easy on them, it'd be better for them, and probably more fun for you, right? Since it'd be more of a challenge.
[And after a couple moments to think it over, with a "Clef," Rose nods in accepting the terms.]
Ah, you're really listening to me on this?
["Fairy~" Oh dear partner, I do pay attention to what you want sometimes.
With that, Ryner stands up, and Rose climbs quickly up to her usual perch on his shoulder.]
All right. In that case, let's do this, I guess.
[And they enter the gym.]
[In the background, one might be able to hear a Clefairy telling a grand story to other Pokémon about an EPIC BATTLE, in which she fought GIANT BIRDS who assaulted her from ALL SIDES, but she HELD HER GROUND and even managed to defeat them all without using a single electric attack!
(She's exaggerating greatly, it wasn't anywhere near that challenging even if it was long, but.)
The camera, however, is focused on a certain lazy mage, who is kind of relaxing in a chair... and looking at a small, shiny piece of metal that he's holding up between his fingers.
...A small, shiny piece of metal that looks like a pair of wings?]
...So, uh. I'm still not really sure of the point, but... well, Rose decided she wanted to today, so... she won against the leader of Violet City Gym, and so I guess we get the badge from it.
So? Now what?
