So, um...

[Ryner is having a snack with Rose in the Tranquil Square (the top floor of the Goldenrod Department Store). The camera, however, is currently pointed at a disposable glass which contains... soda. That's right, soda.]

Is this... supposed to be bubbling like this? I mean, it's cold, so it's not like it's boiling or anything...

["Cleffa cleffa." The way the camera is pointed, one might be able to see Rose sitting on the table behind the glass, cheerfully eating a stick of dango. She's of the opinion that if it's from the vending machine, that means people must sell it so it can be consumed, so it's not like it's going to be dangerous or anything, dear partner...]

[Fun fact of the day: carbonated water was invented in 1767. :)]

[He looks at the soda again, then sighs.] Sounds like a pain, to acquire a taste like that. I think I'll stick with tea.

["Clef?" Rose, still currently perched on his back/shoulder, peers around the side of his head, a look of curiosity on her face. Ryner glances at her, then motions toward the glass.]

Go ahead if you want it, Rose.

["Cleffa!" She then leaps off his shoulder back onto the table and takes the rest of the soda back to her side. She doesn't seem to mind it, at any rate.]

When you think about it, tea is also an acquired taste, isn't it?

[He watches with interest as... the Cleffa pretty much drags a can almost as big as she is back with her.] By the way, what species is she?

I guess. At least that exists back home, though...

[He reaches forward and takes a stick of dango from the box on the table.] Her? She's a Cleffa.

Well, you can take your time here to try some new things. [Whimsical.] After all, you don't know what you're missing until you know.

She's very cute. Was she your starter?

Which is why I bought that in the first place.

She was. Don't be fooled by appearances, though - she may look cute, but she's actually a manipulative, violent little devil-in-training.

[He smiles at that.] Isn't there a saying for that? Beware of the cute ones... or something like that. Or is that why you called her 'Rose'?

[He twirls the dango stick in his hand absently.] Something like that, I guess. Though it's also because she reminds me sometimes of my partner back home, and her family's estate has roses all over the place.

Your partner, huh. Did you travel with her?

Yeah, we traveled together for a while, doing research and stuff. Were going to keep going, too, except I wound up here instead. She'll probably kill me when I get back...
