[So, the video feed is turned on, and all that can really be seen is the tail of an Eevee running away, followed by a nice view of the evening sky. ...And really just the sky. Oh sure, one might be able to hear a certain lazy mage talking off somewhere nearby, but the camera isn't moving.]

--why I made you that tent. If you don't want to come out, you don't have to come out. I just thought... since it's so nice out and all, you'd probably get lonely if you stayed inside under the bed all day, you know?

[There is a quiet, muffled "Yan ma" in response.]

...I get it. Really, I get why you don't want to. It's hard, getting over something like that. I won't lie and say the pain ever goes away completely, either. But... everyone wants to see you, you know? Everyone wants you to be able to be happy.

[A few moments of pause.]

No one's going to hurt you. And no one's going to force you to hurt anyone else, either. You don't have to do anything you don't want to. I just... I want to help you to not be scared of everything, okay? Even if I can't do much...

["Buff~" A pink ball bounces over the video feed, so fast that it's hard to see any real details (though if you look fast enough, you can probably tell it's an Igglybuff). What is visible, however, is the stick it's holding, on the end of which trails a brown feather on a string.]

...Here. I brought some apple slices with me, thought you might get hungry. I'll leave them right here, if you want some.

[And the camera gets a brief glimpse of an excited Eevee running over it (chasing that feather, by the look of it) before his paw turns off the camera in the same way it was turned on. Ah Jiji.]

["Vee eevee ee eevee vee!" We're having a picnic! And Dad isn't trying to stop me from hunting today!

The Eevee seems incredibly happy about this.]

Ka'chu pi-i pikachu pi, pika? [ "What are you hunting for, lad?" ]

You sure like making friends, huh, Ellie.

["Eevee! Vee eevee ee--vee?" The eeeeevil feather beast that's chasing Kaile! Dad doesn't like it when I try to hunt Kaile, but--oh who's that?

Easily distracted Eevee is easily distracted.]

Pikachu pi! [ "This is Yuri!" Ellie points at his trainer and flails his arm. ]

Yeah, hey.

["Vee! Vee vee!" Hi Yuri! And I'll introduce you to my dad, too!

The Eevee briefly vanishes from the camera's view point, only for the video to shift to showing Ryner lying down on the grass, next to a makeshift tent made from a bedsheet. He does not appear to have noticed these goings-on yet.]

That's your dad, huh. Looks like he's busy.

Pi pikachu pi... [ "With something important..." Ellie calms down a bit so he doesn't cause too much commotion over the gear for once. ]

[The Eevee jumps in front of the screen again with a big grin.

"Eevee vee vee ee eevee!" Dad's working on making Rey not sick anymore so she can come hunt with me someday!]

We hope everything goes well then. Right, Ellie?

PIKA! [ "AGREED!" ]

["Vee! Eevee vee!" Thanks! I hope so too!

And suddenly, from out of nowhere, a ball of pink holding a stick with a feather tied to the end pops out from behind the Eevee. A ball of pink with a kind of blank-ish smile on his face.

"Buff?" Jiji, did you get bored?]

[ WAS NOT EXPECTING SOMETHING SUDDENLY PINK. ]

Pika pi?! [ "A mystery guest?! ]

["Eevee vee vee!" This is Kaile!

And he turns to said Igglybuff for a moment.

"Vee eevee vee! Eevee ee eevee vee vee!" Nuh uh, I didn't get bored! I was just making some new friends!]

All this friend-making will give me a heart attack some day.

Pikachu, pika! [ "Steadfast, Yuri!" ]

Pika pi, pikachu kachu pi-i pikapi. [ "I am sir Elliot, it's a pleasure to meet both of you." ]

["Vee!" And I'm Jiji!

"Iggly buff!" It's nice to meet you too.

And after a moment, Jiji bats at the feather hanging from the stick that Kaile is holding.]

Pikachu pi pika pi? [ "Does your dad let you use the gear often?" ]

["Buff iggly igglybuff lybuff buff." This is our first time, but he might if we ask.

Jiji is now too distracted by the feather.]

Pikachu pi pika! [ "You should go ask permission now!" ]

Pika pi chu'ka. [ "Just to get it over with." ]

["Buff igglybuff." That's a good idea.

Kaile picks up the Pokégear and starts bouncing over toward where Ryner is.

"Iggly! Iggly igglybuff?" Dad! Is it okay if we use this sometimes?]

Mmm? [And we have a reaction!]

PIKA! [ Ellie waves frantically! ]

Gonna let them use the gear?

[One moment, Ryner needs to figure out what's been going on...

And the reasonable conclusion he comes to is, they must be making a new friend, which should be encouraged.]

Ah, I don't mind if you borrow that. Just try not to break it or anything like that, okay?

["Buff!" And Kaile's eyes light up a little bit with cheer, even though his smile remains the same blank-ish one he usually has.]

[ This guys is pretty derpy. ]

Watch out, they must roll it down a hill.

Pika, pi pikachu! [ "No, they wouldn't!" ]

I'm pretty sure I can trust them --

["Vee!" Well, Jiji just tackled the feather so hard that the stick went flying out of Kaile's hand. And now both Jiji and the toy are tumbling away.]

--can trust Kaile to be careful.

[That was a rather drastic drop in confidence in your voice, there, Ryner...]

Yeah, I thought so.

I keep an eye on Ellie here so he doesn't try to use the gear as a frisbee.

Pikachu pi. [ "It was a good idea." ]

That... would be bad, yeah. I hope Jiji never gets an idea like that into his head...

["Iggly igglybuff." It'd be a bit hard for me to throw it anyway.]

Pikapi kachu. [ "Where is Sir Jiji." ]

... I would still watch over them. [ Since he sort of knows what his Pikachu is thinking. ]

I was planning on it.

[And out of the blue! Jiji pounces onto Ryner's lap, nearly knocking him back onto the ground. He has the stick and feather in his mouth, and he's all proud of himself.

"Vee! Vee! Eevee vee!" Dad! Dad! I caught the evil feather beast!]

Evil feather beast?

Pi pikachu pi! [ "Do tell us your tale!" The Pikachu is anxious to listen about how Jiji caught this feather beast despite how... well, he finds everything exciting. ]

That's what he's calling it? [He has caught his balance which is good because crashing into the tent would be bad.

"Eevee vee ee eevee! Vee! Vee!" The evil feather beast was chasing Kaile and was going to eat him, but I -leapt- into action and saved him and hunted it and it can't hurt him anymore!

Jiji snuggles into Ryner's chest, demanding petting for his triumph.]

Not sure, but that's what I got from his expression. [ Because that makes a lot of sense. ]

Pika! [ "Amazing!" The Pikachu applauds happily. ]

It does sound about right, when it comes to him. [And Ryner starts giving Jiji a good scritch behind the ears because hey, who is he to deny the desires of his Eevee, especially when this will keep him out of trouble?

"Igglybuff." He's a real hero.

If it weren't for the fact that his smile still hasn't changed, Kaile's expression would be one of pride in Jiji.]

Pikaaa! Pikachu kachu pi-i! [ "Heeeroooo! We should join forces!" ]

You have such... a hyper, little rascal.

["Eevee! Vee!" We should! We should!

Though, Jiji seems to have only barely noticed that the conversation is still going, considering that he's rather enjoying this petting.]

He's definitely a handful. But he's been a bit better since I made him that toy, kind of...

Pika ka'chu pi-i pika. [ "We must rendezvous somewhere in order to jumpstart this alliance." Ellie continues to nod with his arms folded across his chest." ]

Totally saves you from being the toy, huh.

[Jiji's a little preoccupied, but Kaile wants to see where this will go.

"Iggly iggly buff?" Where would be best?]

Ah... Not really. It mostly just saves Kaile from getting hurt. I still get to deal with Rose. ...well, except she doesn't think of me as a toy I don't think, but...

Pikachu pi... [ "It must be a trademark place..." The Pikachu goes into thinking mode. ]

But... what?

["Iggly..."

Kaile also starts thinking hard.]

Ah... it's not really important.

Pika pi, pi kachu ka'pi? [ "Let's start with this, where is your traveling party?" ]

Whatever it is, it's getting you wrinkles.

["Igglybuff iggly." We're in Ecruteak City.]

No need to worry. I mean, it's not like she tries to kill me or anything.

Pikachu pi pika! [ "I will give you a sign when we're halfway there then!" ]

She must be suffocating you out of love. Just a misunderstanding then.

["Buff iggly igglybuff?" Oh, that means you're coming here soon?]

Maybe something like that...

Pika pi pikachu pika... [ "We eventually have to stop by..." ]

Too much love can cause things to implode out of sheer madness.

Or so I've heard.

["Iggly iggly lybuff." Well, we'll probably be here for a while, so we'll wait for you to get here then.]

I've heard something like that too, once or twice. It'd be nice to avoid a situation like that, though...

Pikachu pi! [ "Splendid!" The Pikachu claps once. ]

If it's as you say, I think you can avoid it.
