tearsofademon: (call me a hopeless romantic)

☆20☆ [Video]

[The video shows a certainly lazy mage, sitting on his bed, gently petting a Clefairy who’s curled up on his lap, sobbing into his clothes. …Also his face looks pretty heavily bruised, there, as though he’s been slapped a lot. Not that he seems particularly in pain, or if he is he’s hiding it pretty well.]

Haa… a week here, huh. That’s a new record, even for me.

[He says this cheerfully, but his expression softens into a somewhat regretful smile as the Clefairy in his lap lets forth another sob, one that’s pointedly unamused. “Clef.”]

…I guess I really worried you, didn’t I.

[“Cle-Clefairy clefair clef fairy fairy clef…” Her already-half-choked-up chatter is muffled a little by how buried she is in his clothing. She’d been so scared – so scared – because he wouldn’t wake up, no matter how much she used Wake-Up Slap which is supposed to be able to wake anyone up, and this went on for days, why wouldn’t he wake up?]

…Sorry, Rose. I didn’t mean to scare you like that.

[Rose stops sobbing for a moment to look up at Ryner in surprise – she’d been so sure he’d say something stupid about how she shouldn’t worry so much about him or something. (Which is on his mind, sure, but he’s trying to have tact here.) But after a moment, the tears take over again, and she buries her face even more in his clothes.

He just strokes her a bit more, he hopes calmingly.]

We’ll do something special to make up for it, all right? I mean, it’s too late tonight to go to the theater, but maybe – huh?

[And suddenly, at the window, there is the beating of wings, the scrambling of feathers, and a loud “’TOWL!” that announces that a certain Noctowl has returned from a couple day trip (that he decided to take seeing as Ryner wasn’t waking up any time soon at the time).

Gail is greeted by other voices in the room who are just off camera at the moment – an Absol, a Quilava, and a Paras, to be specific. (There's also a Yanma under the bed, but she's still in a bit of shock from being out of the PC for such a long stretch, so she's being quiet.) Rose tries to stop crying, at least, even if she doesn’t look up.

When he lands and registers that Ryner’s awake, Gail tilts his head and lets out a happy “Noctowl!” in happiness that Ryner is now awake.]

Ah, Gail! I guess you took a trip while I was out, huh.

[A nod from the Noctowl, who then maneuvers to take off the satchel he’s wearing and open it to display its contents: lots of fresh berries and plants and such, and… a Pokémon egg?

Yeah, um… guess who met a pretty wild female bird on his travels and had a… thing with her. He seems so proud of himself, too.

Ryner… is surprised, to say the least, but manages to not freak out.]

And you brought back your kid, I guess? Well, I hope it’s yours, anyway…

[A nod from Gail.]

…Well, I don’t see why not, I guess. Who am I to say no, right?

Yeah. I'd show you if you wanted, but... well, it doesn't work here.

...huh. I guess it must be atmospheric in some way.

[He nods a little.]

It's really just arranging the flow of energy in the world to create certain phenomena. Um... but you have to be able to see it in order to do that, and I can't see it here for some reason.

Huh, really? That's kind of cool. But it's a shame you can't do it here. That would be a pretty interesting sight.

I already promised Rose a while ago that I'd show her if I ever find that I can do it here, but it's not likely any time soon, anyway.

How about where you come from?

There's nothing really like that there. I can't really imagine living in a world with magic. That would be pretty amazing.

Really? Ah... well, I guess when you grow up with it, you get used to it. I'm still not completely used to living without it, to be honest...

[identity profile] no-nukes-plz.livejournal.com 2011-08-05 10:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, well. You'll get it back some day, anyway. At least you haven't lost it forever.

It'd be kind of sad if you did. But at least the Pokèmon are kind of like magic.

Video

[identity profile] alpha_stigma.livejournal.com 2011-08-08 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, they are. And Rose knows how to do some things that are kind of like it, too.

[identity profile] no-nukes-plz.livejournal.com 2011-08-09 02:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Hah - yeah, the Pokèmon's abilities really are like magic! ...actually, it's like living in a fantasy world just being here.

They are kind of like creatures out of stories, aren't they.

[identity profile] no-nukes-plz.livejournal.com 2011-08-11 04:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Dragons and demons and rocs, oh my. They're definitely like something out of a fantasy novel.

Video

[identity profile] alpha_stigma.livejournal.com 2011-08-12 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
Except that they're real.

...And not trying to kill everyone, for the most part.

Video

[identity profile] no-nukes-plz.livejournal.com 2011-08-12 09:02 pm (UTC)(link)
...yeah, that's a relief. I don't think I could handle it if something that spat fire tried to kill me.

Video

[identity profile] alpha_stigma.livejournal.com 2011-08-13 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
It would be a real pain if that happened... But thankfully, they're usually friendly unless you get them mad first.

Video

[identity profile] no-nukes-plz.livejournal.com 2011-08-13 02:08 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. I think the wild ones are reeeally friendly.

But to be serious, yeah. We're pretty lucky.

Video

[identity profile] alpha_stigma.livejournal.com 2011-08-14 05:24 am (UTC)(link)
At least the ones in the wild don't aim to kill.

Video

[identity profile] no-nukes-plz.livejournal.com 2011-08-14 11:11 am (UTC)(link)
Hah, yeah. We'd all be screwed if they did.
