☆28☆ [Video/Action]

So? What is it this time?

[It’s not that Ryner’s worried about whatever it is Jehra has to show him. Knowing how his Pokémon are, it’s probably his evolution or something. Granted, you’d think he’d have heard by now if Absols had one, since he certainly isn’t the only one with one, but one never knows, and it’s not like he pays complete attention to every network post.

Once they make it up there, however, Jehra does not, in fact, start glowing the typical light that signifies a change in species. No, instead he pushes over a loose roof tile and retrieves a piece of paper, handing it silently to the one who had hatched him. A single piece of paper, decorated on the edges with the footprints of each of Ryner’s various partners, and in the middle with a single message written in carefully attempted but still obviously novice handwriting:

Happy Ryners Day

Ryner’s first reaction is confusion, then remembering, then a slight double take, followed by slightly narrowing his eyes.]

...Ah, that’s what this is about. Guess I should have expected that she wouldn’t forget about that...

[While he’s distracted with that, though, Jehra gets on his back legs and supports himself on the railing, staring toward the forest. His eyes briefly glow red as he uses Detect, though not because he senses an attack - in fact, it’s actually a signal.

A signal that’s easily caught by the eyes of a certain Noctowl, who upon seeing it immediately takes wing, a Jigglypuff on his back. A Xatu (only recently evolved) follows right behind, another Jigglypuff as her passenger. (One of the Jigglypuffs is actually a Ditto.)

And a Clefairy standing in the top branches of the tree sends up her own reply signal when the birds are ready - a single pulse ring of water, which goes up a few feet before raining to the ground.

"Sol!" Finally, Jehra speaks, and Ryner turns toward the Absol, who indicates for him to look.

And what he sees... well, at first it surprises him, briefly, that they figured out how to do it. Then it hits him why they worked so hard to figure it out, and he wants to facepalm - how many times has he told them that his life isn’t something worth celebrating like this?

...But, eventually, he sighs and decides to accept it.]

...You really, really shouldn’t have... but thanks.

[He pulls out his Pokégear to record it. If they’re going to do this for him, he might as well share it with everyone else, too. After all, it’s not like he hasn’t heard about what happened on the Magnet Train. That kind of horribly troublesome thing happening, with people getting hurt and Pokémon getting kidnapped... well, it’s not like he can do anything about it himself even if it wouldn’t be a pain to, being here and not there. But maybe everyone would appreciate a little spark of happiness to offset the dark times.

Besides, wasn’t that the point when he did exactly this for Sion? Doing something that everyone could enjoy? He can’t fault Rose for choosing to do something like that.

"Absol." In any case, Jehra is content.]

[If you’re in or near Violet City, you can probably see it if you look up over the forest’s edge. If you’re not, well, there’s a video of it coming in from the Pokégear of a certain lazy mage. No commentary, just a recording of it as it happens.

What is it, you might be asking?

Fireworks, of course.

The Jigglypuffs atop the Noctowl and Xatu use Present, then they toss them up in the air as targets for the Clefairy to shoot with Magical Leaf, exploding them into sparkling lights that rain down. It’s hard to say how they’re getting four different colors out of it, but it could be the different properties of each use of Present.

They’re nothing like the fireworks one might see on major holidays that are created by professionals, but they’re still pretty. And relatively quiet, too.

And they go on for a good fifteen minutes before their finale.]

Yeah! That's right! Yanmas evolve into this guy right here~! In fact, I caught him as a Yanma right when bugs invaded Johto but he evolved quickly after that!

I know riiiight? I'm one of those trainers and a breeder but they take months to hatch... if they ever will hatch.

[identity profile] alpha_stigma.livejournal.com 2011-12-16 03:54 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, back then...? I have a Yanma too, is why. She just doesn't like being out of the PC. Got her around the same time, but I think she's still hurting from what she went through...

I'm sure your eggs will hatch eventually. Don't know why they're taking their time, though.

[identity profile] superboobies.livejournal.com 2011-12-18 06:01 am (UTC)(link)
That's odd. Have you ever thought making juice or giving her berries to make her happy? Or maybe you can find a Blissey's egg it can nibble one! One bite brings eternal happiness apparently. You could also get her something for her personally or try to connect with her!

Hmm...~? Maybe it's because they're so cozy they don't want to hatch.

[identity profile] alpha_stigma.livejournal.com 2011-12-18 07:15 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I don't know any Blisseys, or whether their eggs can really do that, but I've been trying things like that. And I think there's been a little progress at least, but it's slow going. Not that I blame her, really. Having to go through that... It's hard to recover from.

Ah, maybe that's what it is. I wouldn't really know.

[identity profile] superboobies.livejournal.com 2011-12-19 09:31 am (UTC)(link)
You can usually find one in the pokecenter if you ask for Nurse Joy! I'm sure they understand well enough to let your Yanma have a tiny bite and see if it works. Different pokemon recover differently like different people. Maybe you should learn what her old captor looked like, make a cardboard cut out and attack him with it!

[identity profile] alpha_stigma.livejournal.com 2011-12-19 07:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, that's not really a good idea though. Revenge never does anything except make things worse, you know?

[identity profile] superboobies.livejournal.com 2011-12-20 06:54 am (UTC)(link)
I don't see the harm here. She's not really getting revenge and it could be super therapeutic! Revenge would be acting it on the person himself and he's long gone anyways. [ She shrugs. ] It's not like you're promoting her to be violent to everyone or something.

[identity profile] alpha_stigma.livejournal.com 2011-12-20 07:25 am (UTC)(link)
It's still not really something I want to encourage... Besides, it's hard enough getting her to come out from under the bed when she does get out. I doubt she'd want to even if I let her.

[identity profile] superboobies.livejournal.com 2011-12-20 07:28 am (UTC)(link)
Then bribe her into coming out! Treats, food, and maybe a play ball or something can do the trick, though a Blissey egg would work better!

[identity profile] alpha_stigma.livejournal.com 2011-12-22 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
I'll try something like that. I don't want to push her before she feels ready, either, but...

[identity profile] superboobies.livejournal.com 2011-12-22 06:32 am (UTC)(link)
Chances are, she's already ready. She wants to be happy but she doesn't know how! If she rejects the egg then hide it in her food, or let Nurse Joy see if there's anything that can help her!

[identity profile] alpha_stigma.livejournal.com 2011-12-23 10:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, it wouldn't really be nice to trick her...

[identity profile] superboobies.livejournal.com 2011-12-23 11:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Well it isn't nice to let her be miserable when you can do something to fix it!

[identity profile] alpha_stigma.livejournal.com 2011-12-23 11:20 pm (UTC)(link)
It's not like I'm not trying. It's just... there are some things you have to work through yourself, you know?

[identity profile] superboobies.livejournal.com 2011-12-24 10:11 am (UTC)(link)
It seems unfair to her to leave her like this when you can do things to fix it. Releasing aggression built up towards the person that harmed her which could heal, or a happy egg, or otherwise. Love isn't kind all the time, you know.
