tearsofademon: (exactly what's in store)
[Well, here's a rare sight these days: a certain lazy mage is actually showing his face on the network. He's sitting in a chair, a tired expression on his features, his arms crossed over his chest...

...and a Clefairy popping up every few seconds, poking him with what appear to be an assortment of evolution stones. Moon is not among them.

He lets this run for about thirty seconds before speaking up.]

All right. Who gave her this idea, and why? Hell, I'd take an answer for what she thinks she's doing.

I'm not even going to ask where she got them - I'm sure that's where Gail and Julia were the other day, taking a trip to Goldenrod on their own. Just... what?
tearsofademon: (you do not comprehend)
[So you know those foxes from the other day?

The video feed shows one of them happily chewing on tree branches.

...Or, well, they're actually not tree branches, but rather the antlers of a Sawsbuck. A Sawsbuck who is singing a cheerful tune and seems quite content at the fox thing gnawing on her antlers.

Even if the Sawsbuck isn't concerned, though...]

Er... Do you think I should stop this? I mean, if she was bothered she could probably get him off herself easily, but this is Ellie we're talking about...
tearsofademon: (gazing at the people)
It kind of feels weird that Joltiks can't learn Thunder. I mean, I guess it's probably because they're so tiny? And if he evolved... eh, but if he doesn't want to, he doesn't want to. Not my place to push him one way or the other.

[Ryner is on one of the sturdier branches of a tree, lazing back against the trunk as though he's considering taking a nap right there (he probably is) and watching his party go about their business down below. It would appear as though five large pieces of paper with X-shaped targets drawn on them have been spaced out over the ground, and five of the six 'mons are eyeing them intently.

The sixth, the Joltik in question (wearing a tiny top hat), is standing on a stump in front of them, and with a "Tik!!" raises one of his front legs.

At that point, there is a loud roar, as all five of the other Pokemon - a Clefairy, an Absol, a Wigglytuff, an Audino, and a Staryu - use Thunder at the same time. All of them strike their targets true, except the Clefairy, who frowns with a pout.]

Not that it's that big of a deal, though. Thunderbolt's better anyway. Sure, Thunder gets you more power, if that's what you're going for, but look at the cost.

["Tik!!" The Joltik raises his leg again, and another roar happens as another round of Thunders go off. This time, only the Clefairy and Staryu hit their targets.]

Seriously, that lack of accuracy is pretty terrible. If it was Izuchi, I'd much rather go for a version that pinpointed exactly where I wanted it to go over power. ...Ahh, well, actually I'd be most likely to go for casting speed, honestly, but that's not really the point, and that doesn't really seem to matter as much for Pokemon anyway...

Besides, if you don't hit the right thing, you could end up causing damage where you don't--

["Tik!!" Once again, the roar and Thunders go off. This time, the only one who misses is the Staryu, whose Thunder hits dangerously close to the tree Ryner's in. Ryner is not amused.]

Hey! Watch where you're aiming that, Arius! Don't make me regret teaching you that as a reward for good behavior already...
tearsofademon: (when our tale was begun)
Three years, huh. Kind of hard to believe it's been that long.

[It's probably not really all that surprising to see Ryner leaning on an open book on top of a desk while lazily examining some sort of CD-ish thing, though he certainly looks far more relaxed than he had all October. (Gee, I wonder why that could be.) To the side of the camera - probably elsewhere on the desk - there is the sound of someone intently drawing something with some sort of pen; meanwhile, there is an Absol sitting next to Ryner leaning his head against his trainer's chest (and receiving scritches), while a Joltik in a tiny top hat (...yes) is curled up between his neck and his shoulder blade.]

I guess it hasn't been a total waste of time, anyway. And, well, I can think of worse situations to be stuck in for years on end...

Haa, though, it'd be nice if bothersome stuff didn't keep leading up to Rose's birthday like this. Seriously, what the hell is with October, anyway? Especially this year. I'm really finding it hard to believe all of that was just a dream - even considering and despite everything I've seen. I mean, if anyone else's got any thoughts on what that was, I'd love to hear them, 'cause I have no idea, but...

["Fairy!" Rose chimes in a little, though mostly to get her dear partner's attention, and Ryner turns his attention briefly toward the Clefairy who is apparently the one who's been drawing off screen. After a moment, he smiles (though in a somewhat embarrassed way), turning the camera to show off what Rose has done - it's a many colored pen drawing of Ryner casting Izuchi like some kind of exalted wingless angel while moonlight shines down on him from above. ...In the style of a Clefairy with the skill of approximately a kindergartener, but.]

Ahh, that's really good, Rose! Even if it's a little much, honestly... and it kind of proves my point...

["Clef clefairy~" Rose is quite proud of herself as she clutches her new pen - one of those cool ones with several different colors of ink that you can choose between, which has a rose-quartz flower tassel at the end to mark it as hers and because it was fitting - and perhaps even more so when she unexpectedly puts the pen down and leaps into Ryner's arms.]

W-Wait, Rose, what are--GAAH!

[The 'gear is dropped onto the desk with the video pointed toward the ceiling, and there is the sound of a chair and its occupants crashing to the ground.]

...If you want a hug, Rose, you don't have to do that, y'know...

[The feed stays on for a moment before the Joltik (still in a top hat) scuttles on over, peers cutely at the camera for a moment, and then turns it off. Ryner will be a minute, after all. Falling over in chairs hurts.]
tearsofademon: (I see your face and wonder)
[On the left, there is a timid Yanma, quietly growling (to the best degree that a dragonfly can growl) and tensely, slowly inching forward, though never getting too far away from a safety blanket.

On the right, there is an Omanyte. ...Just sort of sitting there, blinking blearily at the Yanma like okay seriously what is your problem.

The Yanma inches toward the Omanyte, never once taking her eyes off it, getting closer, closer, closer... and then pokes out a front leg to touch it. As soon as this contact is made, however, she ZOOMS backward, scrambling back under her safety blanket.

...but only for a minute, because shortly afterward, she peeks out again and starts inching forward one more time.

This goes on for a little before commentary comes in from Ryner, who's holding the camera.]

Believe it or not, this is the most out-going I've ever seen Rey. ...Ahh, though, I guess maybe they have a couple things in common? Well, either way. She's finally making progress.
tearsofademon: (all my life I wonder)
Togepis don't take long at all to hatch, huh... Usually they take about a week, I've found, but this little guy only took about half that.

[Pictured on the video is a newborn Togepi, climbing up an Absol's back up to his head (with some assistance from a Wigglytuff and a Joltik) before sliding down his scythe-horn-thing like a slide and waddle-running around to do it again. It seems like they're having fun.

...Also, for those who are particularly familiar with Togepis, this one has a kind of reddish tint to it, and its spots are all the opposite color from what each usually would be. Also there might be a slight sparkle here or there when the light catches right. But that's surely nothing important...]

Jehra, Kaile, Glen, now this guy. Makes four of those eggs that just show up out of nowhere for everyone. Kinda have to wonder if there's some kind of reason behind them showing up, and for what comes out. Since people get different types and all.

[The Togepi accidentally loses his balance and falls off the Absol's horn rather higher up than is probably safe. The other three are immediately a little concerned (for good reason), but the Togepi just gets right up and happily waddle-runs back over to try again.]

...Ahh, well, either way. Guess I get to come up with a name for him now.
tearsofademon: (always stay in here)
ExpandAnother bit of expository prose. )

[ VIDEO ]

[So this video comes courtesy of an Eevee stepping on the 'gear, as evidenced by the swish of said Eevee's tail as she runs past. It's not a great angle, but the camera is on the ground pointed upward toward a desk.

A desk which a certain lazy mage is leaned over on, napping, as he does.

...Well, except that a) he's not quite asleep, and b) he's not leaning on the table, really... more like the three-and-a-half-foot-long fluffy fire caterpillar that is on said table. For the record, though, the Larvesta seems totally fine with this.]

...still dunno where you came from, but you make a great pillow, y'know?

["Vest~" The Larvesta yawns.

"Vee~ Vee~" And then the Eevee starts tugging at Ryner's robe.]

Ahh, Jiru, I'm trying to nap here...

["Veeeeee~" But grandpa~ there's something you need to come see~]

...can't it wait...?

["Veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee~"]

...fine...

["Lar?" Ryner pushes himself up, and the Larvesta also stretches and gets up, curious as to what's going on.

Before he leaves to follow his Eevee, though, he picks up the 'gear that's on the ground and sighs.]

...okay seriously, you guys have got to stop pulling this out of the bag and turning it on like that.

[Click!]
tearsofademon: (mon dieu above)

[Today, dear network, the 'gear is turned on not by its lazy mage owner, but instead by his Clefairy.

His Clefairy, who looks incredibly pleased with herself as she peers brightly into the camera.

"Clef clefairy fairy~" Look what everyone did~ It's not very long before she turns the camera toward a pile of eggs.

...A. Large. Pile of eggs. 40 of them... well, 39, discounting the one Eevee egg that's being rolled off and hidden under the bed by a certain Umbreon, but still. Lots of different types, too, by the look of it. o_o

Clearly, two certain someones are going to be thrilled when they get back to see all of this...]

[PHOTO about... half an hour later or so?]

[A bit later, there's a photo of a hand-written sign next to the pile of eggs, because hell if Ryner has the patience to attempt to type it out. At least the handwriting is legible?]

ExpandThe sign reads as follows. )

[[corresponding ooc post is here; there are still plenty of eggs available~ Ryner and Sion will both be tagging around.]]
tearsofademon: (my cold dark tower seems so bright)
[A smiling Ryner stands in front of the camera today... wait. Why is he dancing to the department store's music?

...Ooooookay. That's different.

Meanwhile, Ryner's voice can be heard from off screen, oddly enough.]

All right, Rose, since we haven't been here in a while, I'll let you pick three. How's that sound?

["Fairy!" By the sound of her voice, Rose seems to approve of this plan. After another minute or so of watching the dancing mage, Ryner's voice pipes up again.]

These three? All right then, let's see... This one looks like a good choice... Rose, if I let you get this one, you have to be good and not use it indoors.

["Clef." Of course she'll be good about it, dear partner. Burning down the inn wouldn't make anyone happy.]

...Haa, maybe I'll keep it to last, make sure I can trust you with it... Oh, I like this one! Wouldn't have thought it'd be the kind you'd pick, though.

["Clefairy~" She can be practical too. If there's one thing she's picked up from her time traveling with her dear partner, it's that offense isn't the only option.]

Maybe I'll buy a few copies, actually. Jehra might like to learn it... I made a spell that works kind of like it back in Roland, you know.

["Fairy?" Really?]

Yeah! It was really useful, too. Especially for keeping people from disturbing my slee--ow! Hey, I'm just telling the truth here! You don't need to pull my hair.

[There's about a minute or two more of just the dancing mage, presumably as Ryner and Rose are off paying for their purchase. Then...]

Elfy! We're done wi--Elfy, what are you doing.

[And now the real Ryner Lute walks into the camera's view. The dancing one stops dancing and just smiles cheerfully. "Dit!"

Well, that explains that.

The real one doesn't seem very happy about this, but then, that's typical.]

...Why are you... ...Haaaaaaa, whatever. Come on, we're done.

And would you turn back already? I've talked to you about this. Geeze.

[As Ryner reaches out to grab his Pokégear and turn it off, you might be able to catch Elfy turning back into his usual pink blob self before the feed ends.]
tearsofademon: (a riddle to guess if you can)
[Today, from the 'gear of a certain lazy mage, comes a video feed of... well, the interior of a bag, actually. Turns out a certain Umbreon is poking around in there for something and accidentally turned it on. ...Seems pretty intent on finding whatever it is, too.

"Jiggly?" From somewhere behind him as he keeps digging around, a Jigglypuff asks if he's found it yet.

"Bre, 'breon." The Umbreon responds that he's looking, but he hasn't found it quite yet. It's only a matter of time though.

"Jigglypuff." It didn't look like there was that much stuff in there to dig through...

"Umbreon." Well then, you dig for it if you think it's that easy, Kaile.

"Puff~" Naah, he'll leave it to you, Jiji~

There's some more digging around in the bag, the camera's angle getting jarred several times as it's bumped into without any care. Eventually, though, with a triumphant "Breon!" Jiji grabs onto something with his teeth and pulls out... a moon stone? Who knew one of those was in there...

Suddenly, though, he looks up, stone still in his mouth, as from the side somewhere, there is a sudden cry of "REEP!", the distinct sound of crackling electricity, and...]

Gaaah!!

[...the surprised cry of a certain lazy mage who might have just realized there was an electric sheep in his bed a split second too late to avoid being zapped.]

...O-Oi, you're not supposed to be in my pillows...

[...well, either way, Jiji's going to trot off now with the stone, stepping on the bag again in the process and turning off the feed.]
tearsofademon: (when our tale was begun)
[The video starts with a certain lazy mage sitting outside under a tree, carefully looking over an object in his hands, turning it over and over again to see it at different angles. It's a TM, specifically the one he received for Christmas. Hidden Power, for the curious.]

You know... I thought TMs could only be used the one time before breaking, right? ...Well, I mean, not that it's a bad thing, being able to use it more than once, but... is it a different type of TM? Was it made in a different way? Is it broken in some way that will mean something bothersome later?

[He brings it up closer so he can directly quote the label.]

...well, they all seemed pretty interested in learning it, anyway, so... "A unique attack that varies in type and intensity depending on the Pokémon using it", huh...

["Fairy~!"

And here comes Rose, leaping happily into Ryner's lap without warning, his notebook in hand, looking rather proud of herself.]

O-Oi, Rose, how many times have I asked you to warn me before you-- why did you steal my notebook?

["Clefairy fair." She didn't steal it, she borrowed it, of course. In order to draw up... this!

ExpandThis lovely image. )

She is clearly very proud of herself.

Ryner is less thrilled, but what can you do.]

...Um... "Power" has an 'e' in it, you know.

["Clef~" Same difference. She seems eager to see if he can figure out what types they have based on her lovely notes, though.]

...Haa... what a pain.
tearsofademon: (you can lie to yourself)
ExpandAction, roof of Violet City Inn )

[If you’re in or near Violet City, you can probably see it if you look up over the forest’s edge. If you’re not, well, there’s a video of it coming in from the Pokégear of a certain lazy mage. No commentary, just a recording of it as it happens.

What is it, you might be asking?

Fireworks, of course.

The Jigglypuffs atop the Noctowl and Xatu use Present, then they toss them up in the air as targets for the Clefairy to shoot with Magical Leaf, exploding them into sparkling lights that rain down. It’s hard to say how they’re getting four different colors out of it, but it could be the different properties of each use of Present.

They’re nothing like the fireworks one might see on major holidays that are created by professionals, but they’re still pretty. And relatively quiet, too.

And they go on for a good fifteen minutes before their finale.]
tearsofademon: (kyrie eleison)
[Voice]

[The Pokégear seems to have been accidentally turned on halfway through something crashing. There’s a lot of yelping and struggling that, if you’re familiar with a certain lazy mage, sounds kind of like him. And mixed in is the occasional "Fairy!" telling him to stay still, and perhaps even an occasional "Gran!" asking similar.

Eventually, however, the struggling mostly subsides, and instead, there is cranky yelling.]

Seriously, Rose, Pino! The hell is this? And you even cut holes in it? That’s not what you do with a bedsheet at all!

[that’s his top priority...

"Clefair~!" As though saying ‘ta da’ or the like, Rose apparently shows him something.]

Y-You... is that what you’re up to. I should have guessed...

["Sol?" At some distance from the microphone, perhaps on the bed, an Absol looks up, as though sensing something. From just the audio, though, it’s hard to tell if anyone else did or not.]

Honestly... I’m really not interested, you know! Dressing up in costumes and stuff like that? Seems like it’d be really...

[...Odd, his voice just caught in his throat. And the next word -]

...bother...some...

[- seems like he’s kind of straining to get it out. But after a few moments, he starts talking again as though nothing was wrong, even if those who know him well and are paying attention might notice something... different in his tone. Not menacing, thankfully, but... different.]

...well, then again, it is pretty clever, isn’t it. How about I go show off your work to everyone else?

[okay yeah. Ryner Lute, changing his mind that drastically about something previously determined as bothersome, without a direct death threat as the reason. Something is off.

"Fairy clefairy!" If Rose has noticed, however, she doesn’t seem to care. In fact, she likes this idea a lot.]

All right! I’ll be back later.

[And now it sounds like he’s getting up and starting to walk out of the room. Though, before he leaves, "Ditto dit ditto?" asks Elfy, curious as to whether he can borrow Ryner’s form and go visit the festivities.]

Mmm? Ah, sure thing, go ahead. Have fun!

[...but Ryner Lute has never been able to directly understand Pokémon before. And he’s never really approved of Elfy transforming into him, either. Something is clearly wrong here.

ExpandAnd after the sounds indicate that Ryner has left the room, there’s a quiet conversation that the Pokégear picks up, taking place across the room. Cut OOCly because I couldn't tame my TL;DR apparently. )]

[Action]

[Anyone trying to call Ryner Lute’s pokégear will get one of his Pokémon at the moment. ...Probably Lori or Jehra, all things considered, since Rose and Elfy are going out, but.

Anyone walking around Violet City today, however, especially if you’re near the edge of the woods or an alley between two buildings...

You might get the distinct feeling that you’re being watched.

:)]
tearsofademon: (I can get by)
[Today at the beach, there is a certain lazy mage sitting on a jetty, kind of just staring at the sky aimlessly. In fact, that's what the camera is pointed toward - the afternoon sky.]

Haa... This is the first time I've ever been to the beach just to relax. I mean, sure, I've set foot... er, well, washed up on one after shipwrecking and nearly drowning, anyway... but that was just passing through, really.

This... is kinda nice, you know? Would make a good place for an afternoon nap.

[The camera is turned to get a nice view of an Absol by the water's edge. He creeps close to the edge of the surf and slowly, nervously pokes his paw toward it... and then the wave washes up a little too high before he's ready, and he leaps away, only to start creeping closer again a couple minutes later.]

And everyone seems to be having fun, so that's a good thing...

["Fairy!" Oh, there's a familiar voice just off camera... sounding almost as though she's flying toward it.]

Eh? Rose, what are-- wait a-- ROSE!!

[The Pokégear goes flying toward the sand, and all that can be heard is a loud splash. Conveniently, however, the video ends up pointed toward said splash, which continues into a few seconds of thrashing about in the water. And then when Ryner finally gets himself upright, Rose perched with her usual expression of cheerful innocence on his shoulder... well, he looks like a bit of a drowned rat.]

What was that for, Rose?! If you wanted someone to go in the water with you, you could have just asked one of the others, you know!
tearsofademon: (I don't know if you would listen)
[Well. This is a possibly familiar scene, this evening. A certain lazy mage is slumped over his desk as though he'd really like to go to sleep soon please and thank you. But then, this is typical.]

So, uh... I was thinking of maybe getting a plant. Not a Pokémon, just some kind of normal, flowering plant in a pot. Something small that Rose could take care of - I'm thinking, maybe she'd be a bit more careful when she attacks me indoors if something of hers might get hurt in the crossfire by accident, you know?

But I don't actually know all that much about plants. Um... I mean, I'm pretty sure you need to give them water and sunlight, right? I've never actually taken care of one before, so... And, well, I'm not sure what kind to get, either. I mean, it'd probably be best to get something that'll stay small, because we do travel sometimes, and it'd be a pain to bring something too big along... And something easy to take care of.

Um... So, if anyone has any suggestions, I'd... mmm?

[He turns to look downward, because he is receiving a tug at his pants leg.]

Ah? What is it, Jiji?

["Vee! "Vee!" The microphone somehow manages to pick it up despite the table in the way, but evidently Ryner's Eevee wants him to come see something. He sounds excited.]

All right, I'll come see, hang on.

[And the video ends.]

ExpandAnd now, Action for Ecruteak. )
tearsofademon: (a happy pair of lovers)
[This video is being brought to you this fine Monday evening by a certain giggling Clefairy. The observant viewer might note that this is not taking place in a town, but instead on the road somewhere. ...Specifically, somewhere between Union Cave and Violet. The observant viewer who knows the owner of this Pokégear might note that this is different from where he has been for the last month-ish.

(Only three days to make it through Union Cave, thanks to Aran. That Paras has such a good sense of direction.)]

Oi! Jiji! Stop it already!

[So, an Igglybuff - with a kind of blank-ish smiling expression that just doesn't change - rolls past the camera, chased by an Eevee who thinks said Igglybuff is a toy or something, who in turn is being chased by a certain lazy mage. ...And now the other direction. ...And now back in the first direction. Said certain mage getting progressively more annoyed each time across.]

Jiji!! Kaile just hatched an hour ago! He's not a toy! Stop it! Ah, geeze! This is such a pain!!!!

["Sol..." That would be a yawning Absol off to the side of the camera who's trying to take a well-deserved snooze now and would like it to be a little quieter, thanks.

...It'll... probably be a while before Ryner manages to catch Jiji and Kaile and stop this. Feel free to point and laugh. Rose certainly is.]
tearsofademon: (you do not comprehend)
[So, Ryner is in Goldenrod's Inn's lounge. He happened to find a seat by himself over by a window, and is apparently currently attempting to write a letter. For a moment, he's distracted by what he sees out the window, though - looks like the huge storm has started in full force.]

Ahh... I don't like this city much, but it's really troublesome to try to travel in this kind of weather. Might as well hibernate here until spring... well, if she'd let me, anyway.

['She' referring to Rose the Cleffa, who is sitting on the floor at his feet, playing with... another Cleffa. (Who is actually Elfy the Ditto, but.) What are they playing? Cards. Yes, Ryner bought a deck of basic playing cards, and they're playing with them. Something resembling Old Maid, by the looks of it. (okay Old Maid is technically from the Victorian era according to Wikipedia, but Roland has dango, so why can't they have a slightly younger card game too.)

Ryner watches the two of them for a moment before returning to attempting to write his letter. Except, after reading it over again, he looks confused for a moment.]

Huh? Somehow, this doesn't look right...

[He blinks at it, even going so far as to pick it up and hold it up to the light in order to figure out just what it is that's bothering him about it. When he does figure it out, however, however...]

Haah? This isn't...

[And this is where he turns on his Pokégear. Because he needs to verify this.]

Oi, has anyone else noticed that they're not writing in the language they use back home? I mean, I guess, now that I think about it, the people who usually live here probably wouldn't use the same language as Roland, but I don't remember learning theirs! And especially not to the point where I don't have to think about it.

Kind of makes it pointless to write this, if it isn't in a language they'd understa--

[And now, with a bit of an 'oof' on Ryner's part, there is a Cleffa on his lap.

"Cleffa clef cleffa!" She holds the deck of cards in one hand, and points to where she had been before with the other. Evidently, Rose wants him to play with her and Elfy (he can tell that the other is the Ditto instead because Rose doesn't constantly bob up and down to a tune only she can hear).]

Ahh, can it wait? I'm kind of in the middle of owwwwwww okay okay one game just please let go of my ear!

[And this is where the feed cuts out. Anyone in the inn, however, will find him forced into playing Old Maid with his partners, perhaps or perhaps not regretting that he's the one who taught them the rules in the first place.]

ExpandAs for the letter... )
