Okay, you know something?

[A certain lazy mage is grumpily sitting up in a tent right now, shivering a little and positively drenched. There's a Clefairy leaning up against his side, wrapped in a towel. The rain batters hard against the outside of the tent, though perhaps not as hard as it could - trees do tend to give a little bit of extra shelter against the wind and rain. Not much, mind, but a little.]

There are Pokémon that can control the weather, right? I'm just thinking, maybe a bunch of them caused this storm because they got so pissed off at all the crap in the cities. It's possible, right? I mean, well, I guess it could just be a coincidence, too, but...

...Haa, well, either way, it's just my luck that we'd get a bothersome storm every time I go through this forest, isn't it. This really sucks.

We should just be glad we weren't someplace that offered less shelter when this storm started.

...It's nothing but scattered ashes now, for reasons, but it served me well.]

We could have had better shelter if you'd listened to Jehra and Dusk, you know.

If this is just a normal storm, we'd have run into foul weather while traveling sooner or later, you know.

And if it's not, as you suggested, then isn't it even more imperative to get to the bottom of things?

Kind of hard to get to the bottom of things if a tree falls on us or something, you know.

And if we'd stayed in Azalea, for all we know the storm would have been strong enough to make the inn collapse.

Besides, we may as well finish what we started.

At least buildings are usually built to withstand the weather.

...Next time, if Jehra and Dusk are anxious, we're not moving until they're sure the danger's gone.

You know it's sometimes necessary to take some risks to do what needs to be done, Ryner.

Oh, yes, we're definitely getting something done sitting here under this tent in the pouring rain in the middle of this forest.

And you would have gotten more done sitting around in Azalea? At least we're on the way to Goldenrod now.

[That might be his hand clenching a little in frustration, because yeah, uh, sitting around in Azalea unable to do anything of any use (because let's face it, getting fresh water to the local wildlife is a token effort at best) has kind of been getting to him, as you may have noticed the past few days.]

...There's gotta be a better way to travel.

[Before Ryner can reply to that, Rose's stomach growls audibly. To which she leans backward and peers up at Ryner.

"Fairy..." Dear partner, I'm hungry. Can we eat now?]

Well, I suppose we may as well eat while we're here, though hopefully the supplies didn't get soggy...

*Dusk mutters an agreement to this and settles herself more comfortably over Sion with a yawn; he's not going anywhere anytime soon....*

Either way, they should still be edible anyway, so...

[Ryner will just be pulling out the bag to fish out some food now.

Jehra, who is curled up by Ryner's side, yawns as well.]

For a certain definition of "edible", I suppose.

*stretches where he sits and shifts to try to get into a more comfortable position in the cramped tent. ....which probably means ending up up against Ryner, but there's really only so much you can do in a two-person tent holding two people and three pokemon*

Maybe you should stop going through the forest. Then thisss might stop happening!

As long as it lasts as long as we need it to. How long did you say it takes to reach Goldenrod, again?

About five or six days through this forest, then four more days to Goldenrod City itself. Of course, that's assuming that we can actually make progress in this weather...

Right, because somehow my setting foot in this forest magically caused it to start storming.

...maybe. There's a shrine in there isn't it?

[It's been a while, so he could be wrong. But he's pretty sure Team Rocket sent someone to investigate that at some point.]

Maybe you've angered whatever deity the shrine is for.

[He really doesn't buy any of this, but hey, he already tried being a decent person today and he has to make up for it somehow.]

If we're going to get wet either way, we may as well travel as much as we can.

*...you know dinner actually DOES sound like a good idea. especially dinner that isn't soggy*

I haven't done anything to anger anybody.

Assuming that we don't have to end up going around in circles because a dead tree blocked the path or something.
