tearsofademon: (call me a hopeless romantic)

☆20☆ [Video]

[The video shows a certainly lazy mage, sitting on his bed, gently petting a Clefairy who’s curled up on his lap, sobbing into his clothes. …Also his face looks pretty heavily bruised, there, as though he’s been slapped a lot. Not that he seems particularly in pain, or if he is he’s hiding it pretty well.]

Haa… a week here, huh. That’s a new record, even for me.

[He says this cheerfully, but his expression softens into a somewhat regretful smile as the Clefairy in his lap lets forth another sob, one that’s pointedly unamused. “Clef.”]

…I guess I really worried you, didn’t I.

[“Cle-Clefairy clefair clef fairy fairy clef…” Her already-half-choked-up chatter is muffled a little by how buried she is in his clothing. She’d been so scared – so scared – because he wouldn’t wake up, no matter how much she used Wake-Up Slap which is supposed to be able to wake anyone up, and this went on for days, why wouldn’t he wake up?]

…Sorry, Rose. I didn’t mean to scare you like that.

[Rose stops sobbing for a moment to look up at Ryner in surprise – she’d been so sure he’d say something stupid about how she shouldn’t worry so much about him or something. (Which is on his mind, sure, but he’s trying to have tact here.) But after a moment, the tears take over again, and she buries her face even more in his clothes.

He just strokes her a bit more, he hopes calmingly.]

We’ll do something special to make up for it, all right? I mean, it’s too late tonight to go to the theater, but maybe – huh?

[And suddenly, at the window, there is the beating of wings, the scrambling of feathers, and a loud “’TOWL!” that announces that a certain Noctowl has returned from a couple day trip (that he decided to take seeing as Ryner wasn’t waking up any time soon at the time).

Gail is greeted by other voices in the room who are just off camera at the moment – an Absol, a Quilava, and a Paras, to be specific. (There's also a Yanma under the bed, but she's still in a bit of shock from being out of the PC for such a long stretch, so she's being quiet.) Rose tries to stop crying, at least, even if she doesn’t look up.

When he lands and registers that Ryner’s awake, Gail tilts his head and lets out a happy “Noctowl!” in happiness that Ryner is now awake.]

Ah, Gail! I guess you took a trip while I was out, huh.

[A nod from the Noctowl, who then maneuvers to take off the satchel he’s wearing and open it to display its contents: lots of fresh berries and plants and such, and… a Pokémon egg?

Yeah, um… guess who met a pretty wild female bird on his travels and had a… thing with her. He seems so proud of himself, too.

Ryner… is surprised, to say the least, but manages to not freak out.]

And you brought back your kid, I guess? Well, I hope it’s yours, anyway…

[A nod from Gail.]

…Well, I don’t see why not, I guess. Who am I to say no, right?

...oh, I see. That happened to me, too. Guess I shouldn't be surprised.

I'd heard of it happening, but... well, Rose got scared when I wouldn't wake up, I guess. And when she doesn't like something, well...

Poor thing. She seemed pretty upset. [Understatement of the year.]

Video

[identity profile] alpha_stigma.livejournal.com 2011-07-30 01:25 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah... [He gently strokes her again.] I hope I can make it up to her, somehow. Much as I was... glad, in the end, to be able to go home for a while, I don't like seeing Rose like this.

Video

[identity profile] no-nukes-plz.livejournal.com 2011-07-30 01:40 am (UTC)(link)
She must be pretty fond of you. It's a pity you can't take her home with you.

Video

[identity profile] alpha_stigma.livejournal.com 2011-07-30 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. It'd be nice, if she could go back to Roland with me... well, assuming she wanted to, anyway.

Video

[identity profile] no-nukes-plz.livejournal.com 2011-07-30 02:02 am (UTC)(link)
...you live in a place named "Roland"?

Video

[identity profile] alpha_stigma.livejournal.com 2011-07-30 02:08 am (UTC)(link)
Mmm. It's the southern-most country on the Menoris continent.

Video

[identity profile] no-nukes-plz.livejournal.com 2011-07-30 02:10 am (UTC)(link)
Ah- wow. You must be from an entirely different planet to mine - or be from far in the future. Either way.

Video

[identity profile] alpha_stigma.livejournal.com 2011-07-30 02:46 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I kind of doubt I'm from anyone's future, unless you'd never seen one of those 'microwave ovens' before coming here either... But I wouldn't be surprised, about different worlds.

Video

[identity profile] no-nukes-plz.livejournal.com 2011-07-30 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
Well, you're not from my future then. [An embarassed laugh.] They're not all that popular back home but they seem to be growing in popularity.

I can see why - no clue how they do it, but that they can warm food up quickly without starting a fire is definitely useful.

Video

[identity profile] no-nukes-plz.livejournal.com 2011-07-30 04:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, you noticed how the inner walls of the microwave are made out of metal, right? The microwave is named that because it utilises microwaves. It's called dielectric heating. It passes waves of non-ionizing microwave radiation through the food and heats it through the friction. Because microwaves can't pass through metal, they're reflected off each wall.

You noticed how the food rotates, right? By agitating the oscillating molecules of the microwaves, the kinetic energy of the food is amplified, resulting in it being heated essentially by itself - with a little help.

[The Clefairy in his lap (who is still not letting go but has at least stopped crying) turns ever-so-slightly toward the camera and just tilts her head. "Clef?" Because she doesn't get any of what he just said.

Ryner, on the other hand, was paying careful attention, and even seems to have understood most of it! In one form or another, anyway.]

So it basically aligns the energy inside itself to create that kind of effect?

Video

[identity profile] no-nukes-plz.livejournal.com 2011-07-31 11:52 am (UTC)(link)
That's right. It's pretty clever, really.

[Ooh, someone that understood the concept. That was rare.]

Video

[identity profile] alpha_stigma.livejournal.com 2011-08-01 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
It kind of sounds similar to how magic works, back home. Ah... well, only kind of, I guess.

Video

[identity profile] no-nukes-plz.livejournal.com 2011-08-01 03:15 pm (UTC)(link)
...ah-? You come from a place with magic?

Video

[identity profile] alpha_stigma.livejournal.com 2011-08-02 01:02 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. I'd show you if you wanted, but... well, it doesn't work here.

Video

[identity profile] no-nukes-plz.livejournal.com 2011-08-02 04:57 pm (UTC)(link)
...huh. I guess it must be atmospheric in some way.

Video

[identity profile] alpha_stigma.livejournal.com 2011-08-03 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
[He nods a little.]

It's really just arranging the flow of energy in the world to create certain phenomena. Um... but you have to be able to see it in order to do that, and I can't see it here for some reason.

Video

[identity profile] no-nukes-plz.livejournal.com 2011-08-03 11:49 am (UTC)(link)
Huh, really? That's kind of cool. But it's a shame you can't do it here. That would be a pretty interesting sight.

Video

[identity profile] alpha_stigma.livejournal.com 2011-08-04 01:10 am (UTC)(link)
I already promised Rose a while ago that I'd show her if I ever find that I can do it here, but it's not likely any time soon, anyway.

How about where you come from?

Video

[identity profile] no-nukes-plz.livejournal.com 2011-08-04 01:12 am (UTC)(link)
There's nothing really like that there. I can't really imagine living in a world with magic. That would be pretty amazing.

Video

[identity profile] alpha_stigma.livejournal.com 2011-08-04 01:49 am (UTC)(link)
Really? Ah... well, I guess when you grow up with it, you get used to it. I'm still not completely used to living without it, to be honest...

Video

[identity profile] no-nukes-plz.livejournal.com 2011-08-05 10:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, well. You'll get it back some day, anyway. At least you haven't lost it forever.
