[Today, dear network, the 'gear is turned on not by its lazy mage owner, but instead by his Clefairy.

His Clefairy, who looks incredibly pleased with herself as she peers brightly into the camera.

"Clef clefairy fairy~" Look what everyone did~ It's not very long before she turns the camera toward a pile of eggs.

...A. Large. Pile of eggs. 40 of them... well, 39, discounting the one Eevee egg that's being rolled off and hidden under the bed by a certain Umbreon, but still. Lots of different types, too, by the look of it. o_o

Clearly, two certain someones are going to be thrilled when they get back to see all of this...]

[PHOTO about... half an hour later or so?]

[A bit later, there's a photo of a hand-written sign next to the pile of eggs, because hell if Ryner has the patience to attempt to type it out. At least the handwriting is legible?]

Selling eggs, prices negotiable, delivery isn't a problem

[INITIAL REACTION IS HAD BEFORE REPLYING and then this comes up]

Is it a common practice to buy and sell Pokemon eggs?

Yeah! I'm in Goldenrod City.

Ah, it is, actually. I believe it's intended to be one of the primary ways for those classified as "breeders" to earn an income.

*...of course, this may or may not be less noteworthy than the fact that he still has horns from a certain incident a month or so ago, though they aren't quite as prominent as they used to be....*

Well, but since you haven't been challenging any of the gyms, and we haven't stopped anywhere long enough to do some work in a while, I suppose this would be a good way for you to replenish some of your funds...
grapecape: (hatred gets us nowhere)

[The horns are noteworthy, but it takes Ondorus a moment to remember that they should be. Everyone was turned into a human, right? So why...]

That seems a little...

[unsure levels reaching capacity]

The questions raised by the culture of Pokemon training itself can be explained, but...trading in their young? Are Pokemon really seen as property in this world?

*blinks a bit at that*

Ah... no, I don't think it's quite like that. No more than catching them in the wild necessarily gives one total control over them or such. I think most people see it as an opportunity to care for and raise more different kinds, and the trainer or breeder selling them does so in part because the earnings help cover the cost of raising and caring for the ones who produced the eggs in the first place.

Though in any case, even between the two of us, there's no way we could care for that many eggs right now, and I believe our pokemon are aware of that. Certainly Ryner's have prompted him to offer their eggs to other trainers in the past.
grapecape: (so unfortunate)

Hmm. [He's not totally convinced, but a lot of tension goes out of his expression as he listens.] I see.

That must have sounded like a accusation. I apologize for being so quick to judge.
dreamsofahero: (this requires thought)

Haha, it's fine, I figured as much XD

[personal profile] dreamsofahero 2012-09-09 07:34 pm (UTC)(link)
It still seems a little strange to me, admittedly, but then again, I suppose it isn't so different from something like buying and selling horses and such...
eclectical: (thats great!)

Hi! I'd like to buy that Snivy egg!
dreamsofahero: (blah blah blah)

[personal profile] dreamsofahero 2012-09-10 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
You could have challenged the gyms as well, you know.

It's much less work than spending hours working at the pokemon center, you realize.

[It's been a while since Shiraishi's had an egg to take care of... and he just got paid, so why not?

Though there's the problem of choosing. He's seen quite a few of them, so he knows what most of them look like... and some of them remain a small kind of a mystery, which might be interesting, too. Hmm.

After a long though, he finally makes his decision.]

I'd like to purchase a Joltik, if you still have them, please.
enjoymyatelier: but what would that even do. (gradients of babylon...?)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2012-09-10 12:52 am (UTC)(link)
[...

Really, he probably shouldn't, but he's been wanting to try out different methods of training once he gets to the point where his original team is maxed out, and since bred Pokemon come with perks, he'd rather have that than some wild-caught thing...

but...

ugh money management though]

What about the Nidoran is worth P500? They're relatively common in the wild, aren't they?
dreamsofahero: (blah blah blah)

[personal profile] dreamsofahero 2012-09-10 12:53 am (UTC)(link)
Then just ask if any of them are up for it. Somehow I doubt all of them never have any interest in challenging a strong opponent.
dreamsofahero: (slightly exasperated)

[personal profile] dreamsofahero 2012-09-10 01:02 am (UTC)(link)
You could let them have a chance to challenge themselves once in a while if they wanted, you know. Not everyone is a layabout who just wants to sleep all day.
