[Today, the 'gear is turned on when it accidentally falls out of Ryner's pocket, and the video it's recording is... chaotic.

There are Omanytes and Archens everywhere, with the occasional Omastar or Archeops going past, and an Absol and Clefairy trying to go easy on them but knock them out. Jehra is just using False Swipe on them; Rose is taking this as an opportunity to practice controlling the power of her Doubleslap.

Oh, but the more interesting thing might be the Gyarados roaring in the background - a roar of both pain and fury - as she lashes and snaps at the various fossils that are trying to climb all over her. The water she's splashing around is making quite a mess.]

Fyn, you've gotta calm down! We'll go somewhere else and relax for a while, maybe have something special to celebrate, but you need to calm down!

[But the Gyarados isn't listening, instead continuing to roar and lash her tail at anything in the area, fossil or not. A large rock gets swept up in one of these lashes and flies toward Ryner unexpectedly, but a Mienfoo quickly Low Kicks it into harmless pieces.]

Thanks, Tei. ...Ahh, dammit. Fine, guess I'll have to get up there and calm you down myself, huh. Glen, can I get your help here?

["Tik!" The tiny!spider on Ryner's shoulder is ready and willing to help out with that.

An Omanyte tries to grab hold of the 'gear at this point, but a shiny Togepi notices this and pushes the Omanyte away with Ancientpower before grabbing it and turning it off.]

[Fyn roars, but Ryner clings tightly. An Archaeops blasts AncientPower their way, but Glen counters with Protect. Ryner's just keeping his voice quiet and somber.]

I get it. You're scared, because there's so many fossils attacking you just because you're there, and then you suddenly have this huge burst of power that you don't know how to handle, and that's turned to anger and wanting to lash out at the world, right?

I'm sorry, Fyn. I should've picked somewhere else today.

*and Sion's meanwhile briefly distracted dodging a stray attack (thanks in part to Dusk's warning) though he's glancing back as soon as he's able...*

[Still hanging on! And with the comforting contact (including some rubbing that comes pretty close to but not touching the eyes) and Glen and everybody keeping attacking things away, Fyn is indeed calming down.]

We'll go somewhere else, okay? Somewhere calmer, where there won't be other pokemon attacking. I'll bring Ry along. He'll be able to help you out, I think.

What do you say? Want to go back in your ball for now, and we can go someplace calmer?

*well, at least it seems to be working....*

[Fyn stops thrashing and groans quietly. Glen translates this to a "Tik!" of assent, and Ryner reaches into his pocket for Fyn's ball and holds it out for her.]

[She leans forward and pokes the button herself, and the familiar red light envelops her to bring her back in.]

*....wait did he seriously just--*

*he'd do more than just shout at the idiot but having stopped paying attention to the surrounding battle means getting barreled into by a stray omanyte*

[Yeah, calling back the Gyarados he's riding on while he's currently like fifteen feet in the air?

Not one of his smarter decisions.]

...Gaaaah!!

[But before he ends up falling to his injury, there's a flash of bright light from a nearby tree, and the shining thing quickly flies in and grabs him.

...Actually, where's Yohki?]

*well that's a relief, but..... what? Did Ryner even HAVE a decent-sized flying type out battling....?*

[Nope, his six today are Rose, Jehra, Glen, Fyn, Tei, and Yohki.

Though, when the light dies down, the flying-type that is working toward lowering him down slowly seems to have a shine and a similar egg-shaped pattern to Yohki as a Togepi...]

*...well, that's certainly something :|a*

[Yup.

When Ryner is safely returned to the ground, he just blinks a little as he takes in what just happened. The Togetic just flies there happily.]

Ahh, Yohki, that you...?

Did he just evolve?

...I think so, yeah.

["Tic!"]

Congratulations, Yohki. Ahhh, and thanks.

Though next time, make certain you're on the ground first before calling one of yours back like that...

Ahh, give me a break, okay? I was kind of in a hurry.

It's not like it would have taken long to slide back down, you know.

Either way, it turned out fine.

In any case, perhaps we should head back...

Sounds like a good idea. This is more than enough excitement for one day.

And it isn't as though we can get much proper training in like this.

We're probably better off just waiting it out indoors as much as we can, really...
