This Gyarados is one of the Pokémon Ryner inherited from Ferris Eris when she left Johto. He's known him since he was a Magikarp, though. Ryner the Gyarados, or "Ry" as Ryner the mage calls him for the sake of less confusion, is just as lazy as his namesake. He dislikes fighting, doesn't fight back when someone's beating him up, and would much rather just lay there half-asleep than do anything. In short, he's kind of a failure when it comes to being a typical Gyarados, but that's okay.
