Marian Lied was a girl from Azalea Town who went off to study at the Striaton City cooking school in Unova. She met an early, tragic death, however, when on her way home for vacation, she accidentally came afoul of a swarm of Beedrill, tripped while running away, and fell down Slowpoke Well. She was reborn as a Yamask, and several years later, during a Halloween ghostly swarm, her mask found its way onto Ryner's face for a couple of days. (He's not talking about it.) She decided, after that was all settled, to travel with him from there on out (much to his chagrin), partially in order to properly apologize, partially out of a desire to see the world, and partially because she had developed a bit of a crush on Sion. Marian is a bit of an airhead sometimes. She's a little clumsy, except in the kitchen - even in undeath, she's a fantastic cook. She's not the most observant about her surroundings. But whatever she does, she always gives it her best shot, even when she doesn't succeed, and she's always eager to help out however she can. She has a bit of a silly streak to her, too, when she wants to, though she still clings to her human side and hasn't gone full-on troll like some ghosts. She likes reading fairy tales and legends, but she gets really creeped out by ghost stories, ironically enough. She's also terrified of bugs. ...And yes, that crush on Sion is definitely a thing, and personal space tends to mean less once you're a spirit mask bird thing, though over the years she has accepted that it'll never work out between them for a number of reasons.. Despite being of the proper level, Marian is holding off on evolution for now.
