During the fossil swarm, Ryner ended up fighting this Omanyte, and when the fossils reverted, somehow it ended up in his bag. He meant to just revive it, apologize, and let it go, but it decided to stay anyway. Shae is a rather firm yet cynical believer in luck, and is of the opinion that whatever she does has absolutely no effect on what will happen in her life. Whatever happens happens, there's no doing anything about it. Sometimes, things are good. Sometimes, things are bad. (Sometimes, you get a Yanma poking your shell for no reason. ...Though, admittedly she does have some fondness for Rey.) In any case, she's confused by suddenly being revived in the modern era, but is just going with the flow of where her luck takes her.
