Because he has a fondness for Magikarp (because they are pacifist fish... with issues...), and because they needed homes, and because he decided Ry could use a water-type companion that wouldn't try to kill him upon laying eyes on him, and because they were free, Ryner decided to take in one of the free Magikarp eggs offered at BreederCon. As a Magikarp, Fyn was a little on the small side for the species, but otherwise rather typical. As a Gyarados, she's still a little small, and... typical of the species in other ways. Prone to being overwhelmed by large crowds, especially hostile swarms, she has the unfortunate tendency to channel anxiety into anger, though Ryner and Ry are helping her with that. In the end, though, when she isn't completely overwhelmed, she's pretty calm and gentle, really.
